GWorld Mobile
Your GWorld Card is now available on your mobile device.
Use your GWorld Mobile Card to access on-campus buildings and make payments at on- and off-campus locations that accept GWorld. Tap your GWorld Mobile Card at locations where you tap or swipe a physical card.
GWorld Mobile Cards are a new option for GW students, faculty and staff.
- Starting March 18, 2025, currently enrolled students and all employees (faculty and staff) can transition to using a GWorld Mobile Card stored on their mobile device.
- All new employees and students who join the GW community after March 18 are eligible to use GWorld Mobile Cards.
- Once you install your new GWorld Mobile Card, both your mobile and physical cards will be active so that you can adjust to using this new technology on a daily basis. On Tuesday, April 1, your physical card will be turned off and can not be used for building access or payments.
- Starting April 1, if you choose to go mobile, your physical card will be turned off for payments and access the same day.
- During this transition period, contact our office if you have any technical issues with your new GWorld Mobile Card.
Keep Your Physical Card After Choosing to Go Mobile
Even if you choose to use a mobile card, we recommend keeping your physical card as it will still be used for some campus services, such as book borrowing and printing.
Also, some staff members will continue to show a physical card as identification to enter various campus spaces. Confirm with your manager if you will be required to show a physical card as part of your job responsibilities.
Where Can I Use or Not Use My GWorld Mobile Card
Use Your GWorld Mobile Card:
- Anywhere you normally use your GWorld Card for building access. This includes academic buildings, residence halls, libraries, and Lerner Health and Wellness Center.
- At all on-campus GW Dining locations and off-campus Dining Partners that take GWorld Meal Plans, Dining Dollars and/or Campus Cash accounts as a form of payment.
- At the GW Campus Store
- To park at GW parking garages.
- Occasional/Daily Parking - GW personnel can use their Campus Cash account via their GWorld Mobile Card to pay for occasional/daily parking. Through the end of March, you can use either your physical or mobile card to enter and exit a garage. Note: you must use the same card or device to enter/exit. On April 1, your physical card will be turned off for purchases and access and you will use your mobile card to enter/exit a garage.
- Permit Parking - Through the end of March, continue to use your physical card to access your assigned garage. On April 1, your permit parking will be switched from your physical card to your mobile card and you will use your mobile card to access the garage moving forward.
- Parking Using Apple Devices - Use the same Apple device (either your phone or watch) to enter and exit the garage.
Campus Services Still Requiring a Physical GWorld Card
The following campus services do not currently work using a GWorld Mobile Card. These services will continue to operate using alternative methods.
- Book Borrowing at GW Libraries
- For the remainder of the Spring 2025 semester, continue to use the barcode on the back of your physical GWorld Card for book borrowing.
- For this reason we recommend you hold on to your physical GWorld Card.
- GWorld is working with the libraries and GW IT on a mobile solution.
- WEPA Printing
- If you would like to use GWorld for payment at a WEPA GW printing kiosk you will need a physical GWorld Card. If you are using a GWorld Mobile Card your physical GWorld Card will no longer work on WEPA kiosks starting April 1.
- Students: If you use the GWorld Mobile Card you will have access to your free print credits via the WEPA app.
- Papercut Printing
- A physical GWorld Card is required to use tap-to-release from PaperCut GW Printing managed printers in departmental offices and designated labs. GW IT is working with GWorld on a mobile tap solution.
- If you choose to use the GWorld Mobile Card, keep your physical GWorld Card. You can still use your physical card at PaperCut printers even after access and payment is turned off on your physical card on April 1.
